In this post, we see a recap of things we discussed in class.
First of all, I really want to start using the blog more interactively so start looking for comments on your posts. That being said, EVERYBODY please start checking the blog nightly if at all possible, or at the very least don't wait until class is starting to log on (and I'm including myself in that).
So! Some point to reiterate from class (in no particular order)...
Fatima - Kudos on being the first to upload a first draft. :) Be on the lookout for an email from me...I'm planning to edit your draft and send it back to you with questions and suggestions.
Jamie - Have you gotten in contact with Neil/his brother regarding the drone he built? A human primary source with firsthand information is way better than a press release from a big company that's too busy to give you any real information, in my opinion. Also, I'm working on getting you contact info for another potential local owner of a drone that you could talk to (the one who shot the footage of the downtown fire) so I will get back to you with that info asap.
Ashley - Let me know when you are able to get in to a car dealership for an interview and if you need someone to go with you for photos, etc.
Megan - LOVE your photos...I'm a little uncertain of the direction your story is going because the three devices you've got photos of are so different in their application. The 3D sugar printer seems like it might be a better topic for a sidebar related to Maggie's story...does that make any sense or is that just me?
Jordan B&W - Y'all both let me know how your interviews go!
For those of you I didn't address, just keep posting on the blog and everyone be looking for emails from me when you upload your drafts.
So, I definitely left a comment and it got deleted. -___-
ReplyDeleteI went ahead and got the press release and pictures from the Sugar Lab just because. I told Maggie yesterday she could use the information I got but I wanted to see where she was going as well. I figured it was better to get it than not. :P
For my direction, Boss suggested I interview who I could and then see where it leads me once I start writing - so that's what I was pretty much doing. The whole concept I've got it just trying to see what's up and coming for 2014-2015 and then find a general source or two to tie it all together. I will be transcribing after practicum and then I think it'll give a better perspective as to where I'm going.

ReplyDeleteMy interview was great. Dude was a true expert. I'm going to transcribe it sometime before class, and I'm working on getting two more sources. But basically I finally have the ball rolling
Fatima Frasher...Good morning Journalist!!! Question are you sending the questions and advice to my email or are you posting to this site??...It really doesn't matter to me just want to know where to look.
ReplyDeleteAshley
ReplyDeleteThe guy at the dealership hasn't called me and I haven't been able to take a trip down there. I'm currently trying to contact the DOT for a new system they're trying to implement in cars.

ReplyDeleteOkay so i am going to apologize for this right now! I had my interview this morning with the student and it went great; however, when I went home earlier today to grab a bite for lunch I placed my recorder down somewhere in my house and I am currently unable to locate said recording device. SO long story short I apologize for not having anything up right now this week has been the week from HELL for me and i will totally have my stuff together next week. Also I will get the interview up hopefully tonight!
